How does Music Camp work?
In order to accomplish the exciting task of putting together a musical in a week, registered campers will receive a packet including the musical booklet, CD, and camp information. Campers are expected to be familiar with the musical before arriving on July 9th. This allows Music Camp Staff to focus on staging, choreography, and big picture show elements.
When campers arrive each morning, they will join their team based on grade level. They will participate in an opening assembly and rotate through choreography stations. Staging classes, electives, and full rehearsals will occur in the afternoon. We do more than just music at Music Camp! Each afternoon, campers will experience games, art, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) centers. After the end of our week, Music Camp families will return on Sunday morning for our culminating performance!
Stage Craft: The stage craft elective will teach campers basics about about set design. They will help with creating some set pieces and props. Set design includes painting and building. This elective will not have a performance during the show; however, we will present a video of what the campers did during the week. This elective is available for all grades.
Dance: Campers will learn and preform a  60’s dance. We are going to learn 60’s dance moves and knock the socks off of the audience! This elective is available for all grades.
Watch this video of some older elementary kids to get an idea of how our boomwhacker elective works! Boomwhackers are instruments used in music education to teach students about rhythm and tone. This elective is orchestrated by Music Camp Staff and available for all grades!

Watch this video to see an element of STOMP. This elective involves using simple objects as rhythmic instruments. Because of the advanced coordination involved in this elective, it is reserved for campers entering 3rd grade and up.

June 26th and 28th
We cast our musical before camp begins. For this reason, campers have the opportunity to audition for a role on June 26th or 28th. Even if your camper does not have an idea of a specific role they are interested in, they are still encouraged to audition. This gives us a chance to meet your camper before camp! The 5 minute audition is very simple and requires no preparation. Please indicate your preferred audition date on the registration form and we will contact you with a time slot.
Campers will be notified of the audition results on June 29th in order to begin practicing at home.
