2Sam 21:15: Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines, and he became exhausted.

2Sam 21:16-17 And Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of Rapha, whose bronze spearhead weighed three hundred shekels and who was armed with a new sword, said he would kill David. 17But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David’s rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, saying, “Never again will you go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished.”

2Sam 21:18 In the course of time, there was another battle with the Philistines, at Gob. At that time Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Saph, one of the descendants of Rapha.

2Sam. 21:19 In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jaare-oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver’s rod.

2Sam 21:20 In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot — twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha.  21 When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimeah, David’s brother, killed him.

2Sam. 21:22 These four were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.

Have you ever faced a giant in life that you thought had been defeated a long time ago?

Rapha has 2 meanings: Healing(cure) and Giant.

We discover in this story how God turns our Giant to Healing.

2Samuel 21:15-17 Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines, and he became exhausted. 16And Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of Rapha, whose bronze spearhead weighed three hundred shekels and who was armed with a new sword, said he would kill David. 17But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David’s rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, saying, “Never again will you go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished.”

One of the descendants of Rapha = one of the descendants of the giant.

(v 15)  “Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines, and he became exhausted.”

Satan is masquerading as your former enemy so he can slip past your faith and
regain entrance into your life.

2Sam. 21:22 These four were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.

God took these GIANTS (rapha) and birth a new HEALING (rapha) in David – RAPHA gave birth to RAPHA.

This time, the five stones were aimed at David.

Stone #1 = Adultery;

Stone #2 = Murder;

Stone #3 = Failed Parent;

Stone #4 = Failed Marriage;

Stone #5 = Failed King

Num. 13:31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.”  32 And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size.  … 33 We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”.

For when RAPHA(Giant) meets RAPHA (Healing) – God’s RAPHA always wins.

Giant: Ishbi-Benob = Hidden Happiness (Margin of happiness)
Rapha: Abishai = Gift of Peace

Giant: Saph = To Wallow in Grief = the suffering of Grief
Rapha: Sibbecai = Free from Thicket or Free from bondage

Giant: Goliath = Great Weight/Burden; Unshaped Weight
Rapha: Elchanon = God is gracious and full of grace

Giant: Huge man with 6 fingers and toes = 6 is the number of man;
Rapha: Jonathan = Name of David’s Best Friend – restoring man’s love by God’s love.
