TODAY!

…For you do not know what (to)day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1

Here is a poem that I ask you to read today:
You say you’ll do much in the years to come, but what have you done today?
You plan to give wealth in a princely sum, but how much have you given away?
     You’ll heal broken hearts and dry every tear, bring to them hope and take away fear;

Changed!

(07-20-09) I love baptisms. We had a great one tonight at the beach (July 19th)! There is nothing more appealing about the gospel than to see how it changes and transforms lives. Tonight, I baptized a young man out of prison for 2 weeks – who looks like a different person every time I see him – all because of Jesus.

Finding Hope at an Outlet Store

October 17, 2009 - 3:34pm — Anonymous

(07-13-09) I walked into a Men's Shop today. A salesman whose voice I recognized greeted me. He was a former sportscaster for the Lakers and ESPN ... but now was working at an outlet store in Camarillo. At first, my heart dropped for him - then I began to admire him. I am sure he is a casualty of our economy and was probably replaced by a younger, more spry, personality.

Who's on your shoulders?

(07-10-09) I was back in New Jersey to work on my mother's estate for a few days. Being here reminds me how much of my life was firmly upheld upon those feeble shoulders of my mom and dad. Even though, Dad never earned more than $6 per hour and my mom's best job was serving as a teacher's aide ...

Miracle

October 17, 2009 - 3:33pm — Anonymous

(06-29-09) "Miracle" is a word that is often overused nowadays. But as we launched the Miracle League here in Ventura this past Saturday ... the word "miracle" fell short of capturing what really was happeing. How do you describe the moment when a young paraplegic girl, who had a meltdown because she was so fearful as she came to bat, slightly hit the ball on her third try? As she rounded first base (being pushed by her 'buddy'), her face started to beam. The crowd was cheering and her mom was weeping.

New Car Smell

Several months ago, after driving my 1996 Ford Explorer for 10 years I bought a slightly used car (had 12,000 miles). I am not one of those “gotta have this car” type of guys. But there are several things that I like about my new(er) car. Of all the gingerbread on it, the new car smell was certainly my favorite. Even though the car was slightly used, it still had that wonderful scent that I smelled every time I got into my car.

A Dippin' Dot Miracle

Miracle is a word that is used with a great deal of cynicism nowadays. Many people have never seen a miracle. Others claim miracles of things that seem to simply be fortunate outcomes. Perhaps the greatest miracles today are not of diseases being healed or cancer being eliminated – but of wounded hearts being brought to life and filled with love and joy. These are truly miracles.

Garage Sales

October 17, 2009 - 3:31pm — Anonymous

(06-05-09)
Garage Sales, Yard Sales, Rummage Sales, Flea Markets...whatever you call them, they are happening every weekend and on every block this time of year. Come Friday evening, there’s not a telephone pole within a mile of my house that is not plastered with hand-made signs soliciting every passerby to come to this weekend’s offering of garage sales.
